About Walker and Wood
Walker & Wood operates a custom woodworking workshop in Nashville, Tennessee. The company was founded in 2017 by Derek Walker, who grew up in a small town in Northwest Ireland and discovered woodworking at age nine while helping his grandfather in the garage. After honing his skills at a local woodshop during high school—building stairs, windows, and other architectural elements—Walker moved to Nashville in 2013 and later launched the business to bring bespoke, handcrafted pieces to residential and commercial clients. The shop produces custom furniture, cabinetry, built-ins, and outdoor woodwork, and also handles home and office renovations. Services span consultation, design, delivery, and installation. Walker runs the workshop himself, though the site references a team; no facility size or headcount figures are published. Clients range from homeowners needing bunk rooms, closets, and kitchens to commercial accounts such as High Brow Coffee. The New York Times highlighted a pet‑friendly furniture piece, underscoring a design‑oriented clientele. Walker & Wood emphasizes reliability, clear communication, and transparency—values framed as a response to an industry reputation for poor follow‑through. The founder’s stated motivation is a lifelong passion for the craft and a commitment to building lasting relationships through integrity and craftsmanship.
