About MicroKits
MicroKits operates from Charlottesville, Virginia, where it designs and sells build-it-yourself electronic kits that turn the physics of capacitance into playable musical instruments. The product line centers on three kit families: the Theremin Electronic Kit, which lets users build a gesture-controlled instrument; the Synth-a-Sette, a cassette-sized analog synthesizer; and the Banan-a-Synth, a banana-shaped synthesizer with 12 instrument voices and 8 effects that can also turn conductive objects into keys. The company's stated mission is to make mini musical instruments that anyone can learn, play, and create with, emphasizing that manipulating sound is the most engaging entry point to understanding electricity. By removing computers and soldering irons from the equation, MicroKits positions its kits as an accessible bridge between curiosity and functional electronics.
