About LewisKoa Co.
LewisKoa Co. was founded in 2001 by Aaron and Tamara Lewis in Hilo, Hawaii. The couple set out to create heirloom-quality furniture designed to last for generations, drawing on the islands’ native koa wood. That vertical integration allows the team to handcraft furniture, home decor, and custom woodwork pieces such as platters, bowls, benches, and jewelry that combines koa with Tahitian pearls. A retail space at Hilo Bayfront showcases the finished goods alongside curated gifts from other local makers. Its catalog includes functional art like resin-inlaid platters, curly-koa pocket knives, and koa-handled iPhone cases, all rooted in design cues from historic Hawaiian palaces, Japanese aesthetics, and contemporary styles. The founders’ original vision — building furniture that becomes a family legacy — remains the guiding principle. By keeping every step from log to finished piece under one roof, LewisKoa emphasizes traceability and a direct connection to the material.
